Passenger Carrying Vehicles
Nos. 1001/1002/1003/1004/1005 – IP Engineering freelance coaches
Five IP Engineering coach kits were purchased during 2002, being a 3-compartment brake, 2&3 compartment closed, and 2 compartment semi-open and open. As of August 2013, the brake, open and semi open are complete and painted (after awaiting painting since 2002!) and in various stages of the detailing process. Both the 2 and 3 compartment closed are unbuilt at present.
No. 1011 – Brandbright Toastrack
Part of a large purchase of second hand stock, this Toastrack is a well-built and attractive vehicle. However, its lightness means it doesn’t traverse some of the WLR 100% reliably and is use sporadically, usually with 1012 and some wagons.
No. 1012 – Unknown Clerestory Vehicle
This odd-looking vehicle was purchased with 1011 and 2101-2105. It’s heritage is unknown, but it runs well and has been used regularly on Vintage trains, sometimes with 1011 and almost always with some wagons.
Nos. 1021/1022/1023/1024/1025 – Bachmann G scale coaches
The bulk of the service trains are formed of four Bachmann Coaches. No. 1021 is a standard coach purchased second hand late in 2003. It had been repainted in a red livery and fitted with non-standard couplings, which have been replaced. No. 1022 is a UP Yellow brake coach, again purchased second hand. Nos. 1023 & 1024 ‘Azalea’ are in an attractive dark green livery and were purchased second hand, but in as-new condition. Finally, No. 1025 is a baggage car that sees infrequent use.
No. 1031 – IOM Outline Bogie coach (scratchbuilt)
A scrathbuilt coach made of solid plasticard construction, No. 1031 has been built to run on LGB bogies. It has been structurally complete since 2006/7, but is yet to be painted or work on the WLR.
No. 1032 – Heavily modified GRS Coach Kit
No. 1032 is constructed using parts from GRS, extended and widened to make an Irish/IOM style coach. Structurally complete since 2006/7, No. 1032 is yet to be painted or work on the WLR.
No. 1041/1042 – Accucraft WLLR Bogie coaches
No. 1041 is an Accucraft W&LLR bogie coach purchased in 2011, being the first major purchase in some years. The coach has performed well since arrival in time for the September 2011 gala, and a brake coach followed in August 2013, completing the Great Western era rake.
No. 1051/1052 – Accucraft IOM 4-wheel coaches
No. 1051 was ordered along with No. 1041. While 1041/2 represent the fictitious GWR era of the line, 1051 is supposedly representing early preservationist coaches. 1052, a brake coach, arrived in early 2016.
No. 1061 – GRS IOM Bogie Compartment coach
This large bogie coach arrived second hand in 2013 as a bargain purchase online. Being of solid metal construction, it is one of the heaviest items of stock on the line and, running on LGB bogies, it is a free running item of stock. The couplings were modified shortly after arrival, meaning it can work with the service set and any loco without a converter wagon - the first time either No. 7 or 11 could be used with a passenger rake without one.
No. 1071/1072 - Accucraft IOM Bogie Coach
No. 1071 is an Accucraft Pairs bogie coach, purchased in 2016 as part of a move to having two British outline sets. It was joined by an identical coach, 1072, in August 2016.

Freight Vehicles
Nos. 2009/2010/2020/2030/2031/2023/2024 – Brandbright 4 wheel wagons
Six of these seven Brandbright wagons are the reason the WLR is called the WLR. These (all but 2031) were purchased second hand, readily built & painted, with WLR transfers on them. There are three opens (2010, 2020, 2030), a gunpowder van (2024), a van (2009) and a brakevan (2023). No. 2031 is an open built here at the WLR, which was finally painted and entered service in 2013. This vehicle has a different style of straps and hinges than the other opens, and these are picked out in black in contrast to them.
Nos. 2101/2102/2103/2104/2105 – Various 4 wheel wagons
These five wagons were purchased secondhand with coaches 1011 and 1012 from GRS. They are a loaded flat (2101), two opens (grey No. 2102, red No. 2103), a van (2104) and brake No. 2105. They have been reliable performers, but the WLR-lettered stock has been preferred for use at galas. Nos. 2104&5 have doors on one side only, as in Talyllyn/Corris style.
No. 2111 – Scratchbuilt Gunpowder Van
Built around IP components (‘borrowed’ from an IPE coach kit), this gunpowder van is scratchbuilt, and was completed in time for a visit to the VAMES circuit. It has seen occasional use since and is expected to be dismantled to allow the completion of the IP coach it has used parts from.
No. 2112 – WLLR Flat wagon (GRS Kit)
This Welshpool-outline flat wagon has been assembled from a GRS kit, with replacement buffer beams. It is still unpainted, but has seen regular use, giving an interesting comparison to 2131 – it’s Accucraft counterpart.
No. 2113 – Freelance Caboose
The WLR’s Caboose serves as the Bachmann – LGB coupling converter. It came with ‘Ruby’ and has seen regular use, both as a converter vehicle, and with the large Bachmann wagons on the 'Permanent Way' train.
No. 2114 – LGB Flat wagon
This LGB flat wagon came free with another purchase. It has seen regular use as an LGB – centre buffer converter wagon.
Nos. 2121-2126 – Accucraft L&B style wagons
There are 6 L&B style wagons on the WLR. The first two, with are two opens in SR Brown, came as a Christmas present to CP. The remaining four, two each vans and opens, are in plain grey and arrived the following year.
Nos. 2131-2138 – Accucraft WLLR style wagons
Eight Accucraft WLLR wagons form the GWR era freight set. These are a flat (2131), a 1-plank wagon (2132) two bolsters (2133 & 2134), an open (2135), a van (2136), a brakevan (2137) and a sheep wagon (2148). They are reliable wagons and feature regularly.
Nos. 2141-2145 – Bachmann US Style Bogie wagons
These five large bogie wagons are from various dates. There are two bogie tanks (Nos. 2141 (black) and 2142), a gondola (2143), a large van (2144) and a hopper wagon (2145). They form the lines ‘permanent way’ set. Nos. 2141, 2143 and 2145 were acquired new, while 2142 was acquired second hand and 2144 came with ‘Ruby’.
Nos. 2151-2153 – Bachmann US 4-wheel tipper wagons
These three wagons were the first items of rolling stock on the WLR. No. 2151 was fitted with a makeshift centre coupling which remains until this day, and it sees regular use as a centre-buffer to Bachmann converter wagon. Nos. 2152 & 2152 have since been fitted with centre couplings at both ends, and have spent the last few years on hire to the Misbourne Valley Railway.
No. 2161 – scratchbuilt IOM outline 4-wheel van
This large scratchbuilt van contains the Lithium Ion battery that is used to power Nos. 7 & 11. It’s heavily built and when containing the battery is the heaviest item of stock on the line. It is equipped with LGB couplings and therefore doesn’t see much use except when powering the battery locos.

Scrapped Stock
A number of items of stock have been built and scrapped to allow re-use of running parts. These include an IP ‘Lollipop’ coach, a wagon built by my late uncle and a number of various other ventures.
